Days like these, without clouds nor wind, we don’t get too many in Ushuaia. We’re in autumn, the air is fresh, about 8 degrees. It may not sound exactly like it – it took some persuading indeed – but it is a perfect day for a picnic along the Beagle Channel. Driving the road up to Escarpados, we find a beautiful spot high above playa larga, the long beach. The sun warms our faces, the mate warms the rest of us. We have a simple but delicious picada of fresh bread, olives, ham, parmesan and blue cheese. The views over the mountains, water and city are just gorgeous. Days like these, there’s no need to fear the end of the world. This is what paradise looks like at the southernmost city in the world. Quite spectacular, no? I couldn’t imagine myself being in another place. This is my home.
Days like these are simply perfect. For many reasons.
Perfect Day – Lou Reed
Drink Sangria in the park
And then later
When it gets dark, we go homeJust a perfect day
Feed animals in the zoo
Then later
A movie, too, and then homeOh, it’s such a perfect day
I’m glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on
Just a perfect day
Problems all left alone
Weekenders on our own
It’s such fun
Just a perfect day
You made me forget myself
I thought I was
Someone else, someone good
Oh, it’s such a perfect day
I’m glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on

You’re going to reap just what you sow
You’re going to reap just what you sow
You’re going to reap just what you sow
